This is where we are going to argue against part of our own industry's pitch, because Oklahoma makes it hard to argue otherwise.

The Secretary of State sends its own warning. At least sixty days before your anniversary date, the state emails an Annual Certificate notice to the last email address your LLC gave it. So the promise of a compliance reminder, which nearly every agent service leads with, partly describes a thing Oklahoma already does for free. Somebody had to say that out loud.

What the email cannot do is the honest version of the value. It reaches one address, the one on file, and addresses go stale: a founder who left, a domain that lapsed, a filter that decided a government notice looked like spam. The state considers you notified either way, and the consequences run on schedule. The Annual Certificate itself is $25 and falls due on the anniversary of the day your Articles of Organization were filed. Sixty days past that date the LLC stops being in good standing, and a company that keeps ignoring it is eventually cancelled off the register.

Then there is the half no email covers at all. Nobody sends advance notice of a lawsuit. A summons arrives at a street address during business hours, unannounced, and the response clock starts whether or not anyone was there to take it. That is the work an agent is actually being hired for, and it does not overlap with a calendar alert.

What Oklahoma Asks of You to Drop Bizee

One document, one fee. The state's change filing is Form 0075, the charge is $25, and the completed form travels to the Oklahoma Secretary of State by post or through the online filing option. Your Annual Certificate cannot handle it, since Oklahoma collects nothing about agents on that form. The order matters more than the paperwork does: have the new appointment in hand before the old one is given up, because the record is required to show a live agent continuously and a self-inflicted gap helps nobody.
